You can see this Buddhist monastery on the south side of Fatepur village in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur district. The monastery looks like a fort. According to the story of Ramayana, during Sita's second banquet, Sita lived here in a beautiful building in the shelter of Valmiki Muni. The building was built in the form of a fort. That is why its name is Sitakot Vihara or Sita Fort. This Sitakot Vihar is a Buddhist monastery. The temple has a length of about 244 feet and the width is about 212 feet. Due to the digging of this site 41 cells were found here. Each of these rooms is 12 feet long and width is 11 feet. Their structure style is similar. Its main entrance was on the northern wall of Bihar. This entrance was about 6 feet wide. There were two rooms on the entrance door. Probably there were guards in these two rooms. Like any other monastery discovered in Bangladesh in this monastery, no central temple symbol was found in the center of Bihar. However, three rooms in the east, west and south corners of Bihar were used as temples. Among these 3 temple rooms, the temple room at the south corner was a relatively large area. The monastery is believed to have been built in the 7th century AD or near it. Bronze Buddha, terracotta plaques, iron items, pottery etc. were found from the temple.
